JLPT Exam Day: What to Expect and What to Bring
23 May 2026 · Mozhippattru Japanese Language School
Knowing the routine removes exam-day stress so you can focus on the test.
What to bring
- Your test voucher and photo ID.
- HB pencils and a good eraser (it''s a mark-sheet exam).
- A watch is often not allowed — there''s a clock in the room; check the rules.
How the day runs
You''ll be seated by number. The test comes in sections — vocabulary/grammar & reading, then listening — with a break in between. The listening section is played once, so stay focused.
On-the-day tips
- Arrive early; latecomers may be refused entry.
- Fill the answer sheet carefully — mismark rows are a common, avoidable loss.
- Don''t leave blanks; there''s no penalty for guessing.
Prepare your bag the night before and get good sleep — calm and rested beats last-minute cramming.
